Local Civil War Reenactments
One of the best ways to make history come alive for students is to see it in action. We have hosted our very own Living History Camps at school in the past. Every year there are local Civil War reenactments that bring history to life. Authentic dress, periods food, and military life are a few of the things you will see. Civil War reenactments are an inexpensive way for the family to do something fun and educational together. Here are some of the reenactments we try to visit.
Hartford City Civil War Days
This is located in Hartford City, Indiana and is one of the best in the region. This is usually the 2nd weekend in October. It is one of the last of the year and features two Saturday battles and an awesome night fire. The field is large enough and isolated enough that it's easy to forget what year it really is.
And don't forget the best part: stopping to eat at the Back 40 Junction on the way home!

Hayes Civil War Reenactment
This is located at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, Ohio. This is usually the 1st weekend in October. Spiegel Grove is an awesome location for a reenactment and fall camp.
